Following a graduate degree from the London School of Economics, John J. Lively’s Washington-based career included service in the Federal government at OMB, where he was senior budget examiner for federal health, education and other programs,
and the US Treasury Department, where he was the Director of Financial Management for the Office of the Secretary.
Mr. Lively then moved to the private sector at Deloitte and Touche (where he managed and provided consulting services to both governmental and private clients) and, finally, to the Carnegie Institution for Science (where he oversaw all administrative and managerial functions and was the CFO for this major, private scientific institution).
In his capacity as Chair of the AUI Board’s Operations and Administration Committee and a member of the Executive Committee, he brings decades of relevant, first-hand experience in a wide range of managerial and administrative activities. In addition to his career experience, Mr. Lively has also served and continues to serve on a number of boards of charitable and not-for profit organizations.
